BOSTON HIP-HOP SUMMIT ANNOUNCED

HIP-HOP SUMMIT ACTION NETWORK TO CONVENE ON FIRST DAY OF DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION

ROXBURY, MA. – JULY 8, 2004 – Dr. Benjamin Chavis, President of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN), was joined today by Leonard C. Alkins, President of the NAACP Boston branch, State Senator Dianne Wilkerson (D-MA), State Representative Gloria L. Fox (D-MA), State Representative Marie St. Fleur (D-MA), Mr. Juan M. Cofield, the New England Regional Representative of the NAACP, Rick Anderson, the Program Director of Radio One Boston, Minister Don Muhammad and over 100 other community and youth leaders to announce the Boston Hip-Hop Summit Youth Voter Registration Event. The Boston Hip-Hop Summit Event is set for Monday, July 26, 2004 from 11a.m. to 3p.m. at the Reginald Lewis Center, Roxbury Community College in Boston. Working with local youth voter registration organization, Dunk The Vote, as well as the NAACP, the Urban League, and others, HSAN today officially launched its ³Hip-Hop Team Vote² initiative there in preparation for the first Boston Hip-Hop Summit Event.  This Voter Registration Event will be held on the first day of the Democratic National Convention in Boston. 

The press conference was broadcast live on Radio One¹s Hot 97.7 WBOT-FM.  The Boston Hip-Hop Summit Event will be sponsored by PlayStation 2 and Anheuser-Busch, Inc.
