January 5, 2003 (New York, NY) – WBLS Radio Personality Doug Banks of the nationally syndicated “Doug Banks Morning Show,” Russell Simmons and Hip-Hop Summit Action Network have joined forces to announce a new voter registration initiative for the New Year, “One Mind. One Vote.”  This exclusive partnership, developed in support of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Networks Hip-Hop Team Vote’s mission to register 20 million voters in five years, marks the first pairing of two of the most influential voices in the urban community.  The official launch event will take place at ABC’s “Good Morning America” studio on Monday, January 19 in celebration of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday with a special broadcast session on the upcoming election and live performances from some of today’s hottest superstars. 
“The Doug Banks Morning Show,” syndicated nationally through ABC Radio Networks, reaches more than 2 million listeners daily and is heard locally on WBLS Radio FM from 6am to 10am Monday through Friday.   HSAN’s Voter Initiative, Hip-Hop Team Vote, is registering 4 million youth per year until 2008.
