GODFATHER OF HIP-HOP RUSSELL SIMMONS, HOTTEST HIP-HOP AND R&B STARS TAKING PART IN THE HIP-HOP SUMMIT ACTION NETWORK “GET YOUR MONEY RIGHT” FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT SUMMIT IN MIAMI, FL ON OCTOBER 20

The Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN) is bringing two events to Miami, FL this weekend, both of which will give a comprehensive education on fiscal responsibility.

WHO: Godfather of hip-hop Russell Simmons; local hip-hop legend Trina; actress Gabrielle Union; R&B/Pop stars Ne-yo and LeToya Luckett; Latin hip-hop artist Joell Ortiz; rappers Belly and Huey; entrepreneur Michael Chatman and representatives from Chrysler Financial Keith Myricks and Leonard Martin. Hip-hop television personality, Free, will co-moderate the Summit with Dr. Chavis.

WHAT: the Hip-Hop Summit’s “Get Your Money Right” Financial Empowerment International Tour draws hip-hop stars and financial experts to teach young people about financial literacy. For the past three years, hip-hop stars have come out around the country to give back to their communities. Sharing personal stories about the mistakes they’ve made with their own finances along the way, and emphasizing the difference between the bling fantasy of videos and the realities of life, has helped young people learn the importance of financial responsibility while they’re still young. With the recent housing market crash in the United States affecting the economy, jobs, student loans and consumer confidence, young people are eager to receive sound financial advice on how to best manage their money and navigate through this volatile economic environment.

WHERE: Florida Memorial University’s A. Chester Robinson Athletic Center located at 15800 Northwest 42nd Ave in Miami Gardens, FL

WHEN: Saturday, October 20 from 1:30-3:30pm. Doors open at 12noon. Red Carpet from 12noon-1:30pm. PRESS CHECK IN AT 11:00am.

The Board Room Executive Forum presented by the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network and Chrysler Financial. At this event financial experts from Chrysler Financial and various successful entrepreneurs will speak with young minority entrepreneur students and disperse helpful insights on business growth, financial management, building business values and networks and diversification across industries.

The Board Room Executive Forum will take place at Florida Memorial University’s FMC Cooperative Building (FMU-FIU); Room 102 on Saturday, October 20 from 4:30-6:30pm.
The “Get Your Money Right” workbook, which will be given to all participants, is available in both English and Spanish and is downloadable on the www.hsan.org site.
