The Hip-Hop Summit Action Network is especially reaching out to the Latino community to participate in the New York City Hip-Hop Summit on Financial Empowerment “Get Your Money Right,” event on April 22, 2006 at Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom at 311 West 34th Street (between 8-9th Avenues). Doors open at 12 noon. The title sponsor of the Summit is Chrysler Financial and the presenting sponsor is Anheuser-Busch, Inc.

Reggaeton superstars Wisin Y Yandel are headlining this Summit which focuses on providing the basics of financial literacy.

“At a time when our society is being polarized, it is noteworthy that hip-hop transcends language and ethnic divisions,” emphasized Russell Simmons, Chairman of the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network.  “We are, therefore, proud not only to welcome Wisin y Yandel to the Summit, but to have them play a leadership role in helping us to outreach to the Latino community.”

“We are happy to be joining Russell Simmons and the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network in their mission to promote the importance of financial literacy at the New York City Hip-Hop Summit,” declared Reggaeton stars, Wisin y Yandel. “To share this message with the Latino community is especially important to us because we feel that all young people should learn that making the right choices about money will only help them to enjoy a better and healthier financial future.”

“The Hip-Hop Summit Action Network proudly acknowledges the contributions of Latinos to the evolution of Hip Hop,” commented Jasmin Frangul, Director of Hispanic Affairs for Rush Communications.  “’The ‘Get Your Money Right’ tour utilizes the power of education which transcends racial barriers to nurture the minds of our young people and help them to make better choices for their financial futures.” The “Get Your Money Right” workbook, which will be given to all participants, is available in both English and Spanish and is downloadable on the www.hsan.org site.

“We celebrate the rise of Reggaeton as representing the creative genius of Latino youth throughout the world,” asserted Dr. Benjamin Chavis, President/CEO of HSAN.  “New York City is the premiere hub of both hip-hop and Reggaeton and our Summit on financial empowerment will have a lasting impact on our communities.”
