HIP-HOP SUMMIT ACTION NETWORK SALUTES 50 CENT AND THE GAME

NEW YORK, N.Y. – MARCH 11, 2005 – The Hip-Hop Summit Action Network salutes the peaceful reconciliation between 50 Cent and The Game. Competition within hip-hop culture serves to enhance the quest for excellence in all of life’s endeavors and is a celebration of the creative genius of hip-hop culture. It takes strength of character and integrity to resolve disagreements peacefully. And while external forces to hip-hop culture often misunderstand the purpose and the essence of the culture, at the end of the day we are pleased that both 50 Cent and The Game not only represent the strength to move forward in a positive direction, but they also represent the best of what hip-hop offers to the world and that is creativity and the audacity to speak truth to power.

Russell Simmons, Chairman of the HSAN stated, “I witnessed the reconciliation between 50  Cent and The Game. It was genuine and sincere. Our prayer is that others will learn from the positive example that 50 and The Game have set to reconcile peacefully and, at the same time, give back to the community in a significant way.”

Dr Benjamin Chavis, President/CEO of HSAN declared, “The truth is the reconciliation between 50 and The Game is not an exception to the rule, but part of the normative tradition of hip-hop culture. Excellence and competition serve the ends of being creative and working simultaneously toward the empowerment of the community.”
